Inside the Discovery Workshop at an Omaha Branding Agency

May 22, 2025

If you're building a brand from scratch or finally rebranding that logo your cousin made in 2014—first of all, congrats. Second of all: let’s do it right.

At DayCloud Studios, a women-owned branding agency based in Omaha, we’re allergic to templated branding. (No offense, Canva.) We don’t run your business through a one-hour quiz and call it strategy. We do deep, custom, human-led discovery that actually sets your brand up to make sense—and make waves.

Welcome to our Discovery Workshop. It’s not optional, and it’s definitely not boring.

The Secret to Our Process? Years of Trial and Error.

Here’s the honest backstory: our branding process didn’t appear from a cloud of inspiration and good vibes. Liz, our founder, built it after years of doing it the hard way—missing the mark, pivoting, refining, and testing until we figured out what actually works.

As a Midwest creative agency working with startups, nonprofits, and growing businesses across the country, we realized early on: if we don’t spend real time aligning with our clients upfront, it doesn’t matter how pretty the design is—it won’t hit. So now? We start every brand with strategy, story, and shared understanding. And it shows.

What the Discovery Workshop Actually Looks Like

Think: fewer spreadsheets, more real talk. This is a two- to three-hour session (yes, snacks are involved) where we dig deep into:

  • Your “why” and where you're going next

  • What’s worked before—and what hasn’t

  • Your people: who they are, what they love, and how to actually connect with them

  • Your brand’s personality, tone, and “vibe” (yes, we said it)

  • What you don’t want—sometimes we start with this, if a client doesn’t quite know what they want yet

As a local creative agency in Omaha, we also pull out a no-pressure interactive mood board (full of other people’s work, not ours—so you can be honest). We’ll go through styles, aesthetics, logos, and visuals so you can finally explain what “modern but not boring” actually means to you.

If You’re Rebranding, This Step Is Everything

Rebranding isn't a facelift—it’s identity work. It's therapy, strategy, storytelling, and design all rolled into one, and you cannot skip the part where you figure out who you are.

We’ve heard it too many times: “We hired an agency but it just didn’t feel like us.” That doesn’t happen here. Because by the time we hit the design phase, we’ve already had the conversations. The ones that go beyond fonts and colors and get into your mission, your audience’s psychology, and the things that make your brand actually resonate.

A Fully Custom Process (No Branding Buzzword Salad Here)

Every client who walks through our doors (virtually or otherwise) gets a custom experience. We don’t just plug you into our system. We get to know your business like it’s our own—and we bring in the whole team: copywriters, designers, strategists, and project managers who know how to ask the right questions (and call out BS when needed).

Also? We keep it fun. This is branding, not a board meeting. You’ll leave with more clarity, probably a few laughs, and maybe a craving for a spicy pineapple margarita. (Long story.)

TL;DR: This Is How You Build a Brand That Doesn’t Flop

We’ll say it louder for the people in the back: Skipping the discovery phase is how brands get lost, confused, and off-brand by slide two of the pitch deck.

If you're rebranding, starting fresh, or just want to feel like someone actually gets your vision—don’t settle for a surface-level process. Choose a women-owned branding agency that meets you with strategy, personality, and heart.

Let’s build something bold, aligned, and actually you.
We’ll bring the ideas (and maybe the cocktails). You bring the ambition.
